Privacy Policy

Draft notice: this policy is a starting point and has not been finalized by counsel. The list of data handlers below reflects current implementation accurately. Anything else may change after attorney review.

1. Who we are

The Printed Bay is operated by TETECARE LLC, an Illinois limited liability company located in Des Plaines, Illinois. The data controller for personal information collected via theprintedbay.com is TETECARE LLC.

2. What we collect

  • Order data: name, email, shipping address, phone (optional), the order details you confirm at checkout.
  • 3D model files you upload, plus any specs / notes / reference images you attach to a custom-job request.
  • Payment metadata: we do not store credit card numbers; Stripe handles those. We receive a Stripe payment-intent ID, charge amount, and currency.
  • Usage analytics: page views, button clicks, time-on-page, generic device + browser info, via Microsoft Clarity and Azure Application Insights.
  • Abandoned-cart data: if you enter your email during checkout but don't complete the order, we save that email together with your current quote so we can follow up.

3. How we use it

  • Fulfill your orders (printing, packing, shipping, support).
  • Send transactional emails: order confirmation, payment receipt, shipping notification, refund confirmation.
  • Send a one-off abandoned-cart recovery email if you started but didn't finish a checkout. You can opt out by replying.
  • Improve the site: anonymized usage data to find broken pages and slow flows.
  • Comply with tax, accounting, and legal obligations.

4. Sub-processors

We use these third parties to operate the service. Each receives only the data necessary for their function:

  • Stripe (payments, refunds, payouts) — name, email, billing address, payment instrument.
  • Resend (transactional email) — email address, order details included in the message body.
  • Microsoft Azure (hosting, storage of order data and your uploaded files) — all data above.
  • Microsoft Clarity (anonymized session replay) — interaction events; PII masked by default.
  • Telegram (operator alerts) — order/contact summaries pinged to Mladen's phone. We never send your full address or payment details to Telegram.
  • Shippo (shipping label generation, when used) — name, shipping address, package dimensions/weight.

5. Cookies and tracking

  • Strictly necessary cookies: session identifier for the abandoned-cart recovery flow, auth cookies for the admin area, Stripe checkout cookies. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics: Microsoft Clarity and Application Insights use first-party cookies / localStorage for session continuity.

6. Retention

  • Order records: retained for 7 years for tax and accounting compliance.
  • Uploaded model files: retained for at least 90 days after order completion in case of reprint requests; longer for repeat customers' recurring orders.
  • Abandoned-cart data: deleted after 90 days if never converted to a paid order.
  • Analytics data: retained per the sub-processor's defaults (typically 90 days for Clarity, 90 days for App Insights).

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR (EU/EEA/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), or other state privacy laws. These typically include the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and the right to opt out of certain processing.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@theprintedbay.com (or orders@theprintedbay.com). We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children

The Printed Bay is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data: TLS for all traffic, encryption-at-rest on Azure Storage, no card data ever on our servers (handled by Stripe), Microsoft Defender for Storage malware scanning on customer-uploaded files, and admin access restricted to a single email allowlist gated by Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). No system is perfectly secure; if a breach occurs we will notify affected users without undue delay.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date will reflect any change. Material changes will be announced via email to active customers.
